There is a test you can run yourself before calling anyone. Turn off every tap and appliance in the house and make sure the irrigation controller is off. Go to the water meter and find the low-flow indicator, the small dial or triangle that spins on any movement at all. Note where it sits, wait about fifteen minutes without using water, then look again. If it has moved, water is going somewhere it should not be. That does not tell you where the leak is, only that there is one, but it is the difference between a hunch and a fact before you pay anyone to dig.
